Donna M. Amero

My journey into glass art began in Essex, Massachusetts.  From 1978 to 1979 I studied under Barry Richards, a well known stained glass artists.  In 1980 I became interested in three dimensional glass forms.  The light dancing through the glass was what fascinated me most, and I felt that the colors, the possibilities for composition, and the potential for creativity were endless.

In 1983 I started my business, "little Glass Shack." I work in a lovely, light-filled, winterized gazebo (built for me by my husband, Gene), overlooking Gloucester Harbor.  What better inspiration?

My past experience with design, drawing and painting enables me to create original work.  In 1989 I helped found Local Colors Artisans Cooperative on Main Street in Gloucester, while also keeping busy with appearances at art and craft shows, custom glass work, and meeting clients at my studio (open by appointment).  I still find fresh excitement in my work today, designing new pieces, keeping up with design trends, and using new tools and products developed for my craft.

The satisfaction and reward I get from selling my work is the pleasure of seeing my customers "discover the light dance through the glass."
